Mexico Intro Post
Mexico is a country located in North America, on the North American tectonic plate. Mexico’s northern border touches the south of the United States and its southern border connects to the north of Guatemala and Belize. Mexico’s topography varies from mountains at high elevations, deserts, high plateaus, rivers, and low coastal plains. Mexico’s coastline touches the Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico. Mexico’s weather varies from tropical to desert weather.
The earliest settlements in Mexico were that of the natives (Olmec, Maya, Aztec, and Toltec) but in 1521, Spaniards led by Hernan Cortes colonized the area and named it Nueva España (New Spain). Mexico did not proclaim their independence until September 16, 1810.
Mexico’s official name is United Mexican States and in 2018, had a population of 125,959,205. The country’s capital is Mexico City, where the weather can vary from 80 degrees fahrenheit part of the year and drop to about 42 degrees fahrenheit on others. Mexico has access to many natural resources such as oil, silver, copper, and agricultural products.

ReplyDeleteHey Genisis, I thought your post was really good. I have always wanted to visit Mexico. I had no idea that the topography was so widely ranged. I had an idea of what it was like. It is also crazy to me that it drops below 42 degrees. You would never think that about life.
